AP Film Chamber of Commerce to recover from the beneficiaries of the film
A major decision could change the way movies are made in Tollywood
Hyderabad: The AP Film Chamber of Commerce held a one-day meeting in Vizag on Wednesday.
The Telugu Film Distributors’ Association had tabled a resolution on the issue of the huge losses incurred by its members and suggested recovery from the beneficiaries of the film. The resolution was passed and according to a source, the AP Film Chamber of Commerce will discuss the issue in Hyderabad on Monday and come to a conclusion about compensating the losses suffered by the distributors.
“The distributors are treating the issue as a serious matter and want to settle it as early as possible,” says a source.
In the wake of the failure of a few films in the last four weeks, distributors are not showing any interest in buying the upcoming big films, thus affecting the business potential of those films. “Now, we can’t predict any film’s success with only star power. Without a proper story it won’t run, so many distributors and exhibitors are thinking twice before putting money on these big films,” added the source.
Producers also have a complaint against distributors as some of them do not share revenues when films taste success.
