Uninor to invest Rs 600 crore to set up indian base stations

5000 new base stations will be set up by the company
Hyderabad: Uninor, one of India’s fastest growing telecom operators, is planning to invest Rs 600 crore towards capex in the current financial year and major part of the investment will go into establishing new base stations, said a top official of the firm. “We are planning to invest Rs 600 crores into new base stations. We have already announced that we will roll out 5,000 new base stations, which is an increase of 30 per cent compared to the previous base stations we had,” said Morten Karl-sen Sorby, the CEO of Uninor.
On the launching of 4G services, Mr Sorby said, “We will start testing the 4G services this year but will not launch it commercially. The handset penetration for these services is limited and that will change dramatically in 2015.” Uninor on Thursday launched 500 wi-fi enabled stores as part of the Customer First Day celebrations in all its circles.
