United States for India to fight Ebola
Indian kits sought to fight Ebola
New Delhi: Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit, US President Barack Obama wants India to announce a “game-changing contribution” to the fight against Ebola that “can be worked into the US summit statements”, and indicated “an announcement by PM Modi will be widely appreciated.”
This includes specific assistance requests on medical assistance, comprising full staffing and operation of two Ebola treatment units, increased Airtel connectivity in Africa, use of Tata trucks in Africa to increase access of critical supplies, financial support for UN and WHO, and use of the “strong Indian police component of the UN Military Mission in Liberia.” The Cabinet Secretary was tasked with finalising India’s response.
