Cycling for Healthy Heart Day
Fleet expedition was conducted by Fleet Maintenance Unit
Visakhapatnam: A cycling expedition to commemorate World Heart Day was flagged off by command medical officer of Eastern Naval Command (ENC) headquarters on Wednesday.
The expedition from Naval Coastal Battery on the beach road to INS Kalinga was conducted by Fleet Maintenance Unit, Visakhapatnam under the aegis of Eastern Fleet. The expedition team comprising 25 naval personnel includes five officers and 20 sailors of FMU.
Speaking on the occasion, surgeon rear admiral A.A. Pawar stated that the aim of the event is to spread awareness on cardiac health and to promote fitness amongst people of all ages. The theme for this year’s World Heart Day which is being celebrated world over on September 29 is Healthy Heart Environ-ment with focus on reduction in displays of tobacco, alcohol and fast foods.
