Navratri: 10 day festivities begin today
Devotees are all set for 10 days of darshan, devotion and Dasara
Vijayawada: The presiding deity at Kanakadurga temple will bless devotees in the form of Bala Tripura Sundari Devi on the first day of Dasara festival on Thursday.The temple priests will perform snapanabhisekham 2.30 am and open the temple for darshan at 9 am.Senior priest Lingambhotla Bhadirinath Babu decorates the Goddess in different avatars during the festival.
The priest, who observes fast, start decorating the Goddess from 11 pm daily during the festival. He is assisted by two other priests.Mr Babu has inherited this responsibility. He said that it was a blessing for him. The presiding deity will be decorated in Balatripura Sundaridevi avataram on September 26, Gayatri Devi on September 27, Sri Annapurnadevi on September 28, Sri Lalita Tripurasindari Devi on September 29, Sri Mahalakshmi Devi on September 30 and as Saraswati Devi on October 1 on Moola Nakshatram.
The Goddess will bless devotees in two forms on October 2 as Sri Durga Devi up to 1 pm and as Mahisasura mardhini from 3 pm on the same day. On the concluding day on October 3, the Goddess will be decorated as Sri Rajarajeswari Devi.Teppotsavam will be performed on October 3 at 4 pm.Meanwhile, police commissioner A.B. Venkateswarlu offered Pattu Vastrams to the presiding deity on Wednesday evening by reaching the temple in a rally amidst bursting of crackers. This has been the practice every year, before the festivities commence.
