Man found killed with limbs cut off
Police suspect that real estate business rivalry could have been the motive for the murder
Chennai: A 36-year-old functionary of a Dalit organisation, who contested in the recent Lok Sabha elections from Sriperumbudur constituency, was hacked to death at a cashew grove in Somangalam police station limits in Kancheepuram on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as A. Palani. He was travelling back home in Naduveerapattu after dropping his kids at school on his bike. The police suspect he was intercepted by a gang that had cut his legs and hands before dumping his body in the cashew grove.
The police also suspect that real estate business rivalry could have been the motive for the murder. The manner in which the injuries in the body were inflicted suggests that it was a revenge killing. The police said they were looking into the recent real estate deals of Palani to find out if it had triggered the murder.
