7 Indian cricketers whose biopic we would like to see
After Dhoni's biopic, here's a list of cricketers who are potential biopic blockbusters!
Mumbai: Cricket is a religion for us Indians. While the magnitude of love for cricket is as incomprehensible as its feverish intensity, Bollywood seems to making the most of it. Aligning with the latest trend of depicting real people's real stories on screen, Indian cricket team captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's biopic has been announced on Thursday where Sushant Singh Rajput will be playing the role of Dhoni. In the ongoing season of biopics in Bollwyood, here's our list of Indian cricketers, who we would like to see on the silver screen as much as liked them on the field:
1. Mohammad Azharuddin - The former Indian cricketer Azharuddin, who had a much-talked out cricketing career has already been booked by Ekta Kapoor for a biopic. While Emraan Hashmi will be seen playing the role, the film is said to feature his match fixing scandal and the ban BCCI imposed him for match fixing.
2. Sachin Tendulkar - The entire nation knows the Master Blaster's story but would love to see a cinematic depiction. Aamir Khan who has earlier exhibited his love for the game in 'Lagaan', would best fit into the iconic cricketer's shoes. Varun Dhawan makes a close cut, with his atheletic features.
3. Kapil Dev - The Indian cricket legend whose name is synonymous to fast-bowling can be essayed by Akshay Kumar. In 'Patiala House' Akshay's character aspires to be a bowler for the England cricket team. We think the action-hero wih his indefatigable spirit will do justice to the bowling legend!
4. Sunil Gavaskar- The 'little master', as Sunil Gavaskar came to be called, changed the face of Indian cricket. We would love to see, the multi-faceted Farhan Akhtar as Gavaskar. With Farhan's perservance and ability to get into the skin of any character, which his fans witnessed in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', Farhan would be able to highlight Gavaskar's cricketing heritage.
5. Yuvraj Singh - Almost every bit of Yuvraj Singh's life has been documented — from his relationship with his father to his achievements on the cricket field and battle with cancer. Infact, Abhishek Bachchan was recently expressed his desire to make a bipoc on Yuvraj Singh. But we think Salman Khan would fit the bill. Salman, just like Yuvraj is often reffered to as a ladies man, but both the stars have inspired many, with their never-say-die attitude.
6. Rahul Dravid - Rahul Dravid's fans can be segregated into two categories: one is full of cricket fanatics who worshipped the Demigod and the other a bunch of girls who would drool over the his good looks. The only Bollywood actor that comes to mind who would potray 'Jammy' onscreen is — Sidharth Malhotra. Wouldn't you agree?
7. Sourav Ganguly - Who can forget the defining moment in Indian cricket when Dada took off his shirt at the Lord's balcony to celebrate a famous win? His fearless leadership coupled with his IPL controversies, elopement to marry his childhood sweetheart Dona and rumours of an affair with actress Nagma that briefly did the rounds, and you have a potential blockbuster. Our pick is Ajay Devgn to play the angsty former captain.
