Virat Kohli bats for beautiful game
The most common mode of warm-up drill for the Indian cricket team recently has been a light game of football
MUMBAI: The most common mode of warm-up drill for the Indian cricket team recently has been a light game of football. The young stars of the team, all fans of the “beautiful game’, take part in the activity. On Tuesday, Virat Kohli proved that he viewed the game in a much more serious manner than just an activity by associating himself with FC Goa as the team’s co-owner.
The Indian star, who is currently working on his game with Sachin Tendulkar, owner of the Indian Super League’s Kochi team followed the legend off the field with his first big entrepreneurial venture. “I love to play football. It is my second favoutie game after cricket.
Some might think I am pretty young to do something like this. It is a step being taken too early. Nothing is too early if you believe in something. I decided to do it because I want football to grow in India,” said Kohli.
The 25-year-old said that he has been involved in the decision making process of the team. “During the auction, I was pretty much in touch with FC Goa, figuring out the players and their positions. (Discussing) whom to pick and whom not to.”
The RCB skipper drew a parallel between IPL and ISL. “A lot of people are against IPL, but what it has given confidence to younger players.”
