RTC to charge thrice the current rates during Dussehra festival season

Extra buses will be run by the RTC to accommodate passenger rush

Vijayawada: The APSRTC is all set to go for 50 per cent extra income in the name of Dasara festival. The government offices and educational institutions are announcing holidays from September 26 to October 5. The APSRTC is planning to run services between Hyderabad and other cities five to six times more than the regular number of services. R. Naga Raju, executive director of APSRTC, Vijayawada said, “Generally, We run 30 to 50 buses to Hyderabad regularly, depending on the demand. But this season, we need to send almost 200 buses daily to Hyderabad to bring passengers to Vijayawada. On the other side, another 50 buses will be sent to Kadapa, Kurnool. So, the government has allowed us to charge 50 per cent more than the regular charge in special services for festivals.”
