PM Narendra Modi arrives, traffic in Bengaluru city goes haywire

On Old Airport Road vehicles coming from ITPL were stopped for more than 20 minutes

Bengaluru: Though Elaborate arrangements were made for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s maiden visit to the city on Tuesday evening, commuters suffered as traffic movement was held up at many places to make way for the Prime Minister’s convoy.

Traffic on Old Airport Road, MG Road, Residency Road, Hosur Road, and parts of Cantonment area was stopped to allow the motorcade to pass. On Old Airport Road vehicles coming from ITPL were stopped for more than 20 minutes.

All the junctions on the way from HAL Airport to Raj Bhavan were cordoned off and the Prime Minister’s convoy took not more than 15 minutes to reach the destination. The city’s central areas, which were already hit by cable laying works, were the worst affected.

Over 3,000 policemen, along with huge contingents of CRPF and KSRP were deployed on city roads. The city police Commissioner, M.N. Reddi, along with a team of five Deputy Commissioners and 10 Assistant Commissioners were present at HAL airport to ensure law and order.
