Chennai: Tough cop P. Kannappan is the new intelligence chief in Tamil Nadu police. He has replaced Amaresh Pujari, who has been shifted to the TN police academy. Mr Kannappan was earlier IG, intelligence, internal security, a post that is now being kept in abeyance, according to a release from the state home secretary Apurva Varma here on Tuesday.
The release also said Mr S. Manoharan, SP, Villupuram district, has been transferred as DC, Anna Nagar, Greater Chennai Police. Dr J. Loganathan, joint SP (L&O) Tirunelveli town has been promoted and posted as SP, Dharmapuri in the place of Mr Asra Garg, who is on mid-career training programme. Mr V. Vikraman, joint SP, Kumudhi, has been promoted and posted as SP, Villupuram, the release said.
It said Mr Saroj Kumar Thakur, joint SP, Salem rural, has been promoted and posted as DC (L&O), Trichy city in the place of Mr Abhinav Kumar, who has been transferred as SP, Nagapattinam from where Ms R Ponni has been shifted to be commandant, TN special police, XIII battalion in Poonamallee. Mr S. Mani has been shifted from this battalion and posted as assistant IG, social justice and human rights at Chennai, says the release from the home secretary.
