Incident was reported in NGR Layout near Tavarekere Main Road in Madiwala police station

Bengaluru: In broad daylight, two men barged into a house posing as Bescom staff and tried to rob a home alone woman. However, the woman resisted the duo and one of the accused was nabbed by the public. The incident was reported in NGR Layout near Tavarekere Main Road in Madiwala police station limits on Tuesday morning.
Shashirekha, 30, who sustained injuries, is in hospital and is recovering. Her husband Vashanth Kumar, a mechanical engineer who works for a private company, had gone to office, while their daughter had gone to school when the incident occurred around 11 am. The police said the two men came to the house on the first floor and told her that they were Bescom staff who had come to check the electric meter.
They asked her to bring the old bills and as she went inside, they ensured that she was alone at home. They barged inside and threatened her at knifepoint asking her to give away all the jewels she was wearing. But she resisted and raised an alarm. The robbers banged her head against the wall, snatched her mangalsutra and tried to escape.
“As the woman raised alarm again, house owner Bhavya Kishore, who stays on the ground floor, rushed out and noticed two men escaping. She also raised an alarm and the local residents managed to nab one of the accused, while the other escaped. The man caught has been identified as Babu of Bommanahalli. He revealed to us that his accomplice was Vijay. We are on the lookout for him,” the police said.
