Guntur: Four persons, including a sorcerer, have been arrested as they confined a 13-year-old girl and were planning to kill her as a ‘sacrifice’ in quest of some hidden treasure.
Accused Y. Venkata Prasad came to know of some hidden treasure under an old house at Dhulipudi village at Guntur.
He and his friends contacted a sorcerer, who asked them to arrange for the sacrifice of a virgin girl to appease the goddess before treasure hunt.
The gang persuaded the parents of a 13-year-old girl telling them that she would be required to perform a special puja.
When the villagers found that the men were digging the ground, they forcibly entered the house and freed the girl. Based on a complaint, four were arrested.
