CLT20 HH vs NK: Shoaib Malik off to flier, Hurricanes in command

The in-form batting units guarantee run feast

Raipur: In the 9th match of Champions League T20, Hobart Hurricanes (HH) face Northern Knights (NK) at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium, Raipur.

Live score: HH 140/2 (13.2); S Malik 35* (18), A Blizzard 44* (35)

Led by Tim Paine, HH made a comeback in the CLT20 after their stunning win over Cape Cobras on Sunday. While the batting of Aiden Blizzard and Ben Dunk remain strong points for Hurricanes, their bowling continues to be a concern.

Knights’ bowling, on the other hand, remains untested as rain washed away their game against Cape Cobras as rain powered the team from New Zealand to a win by Duckworth/Lewis method. However, with openers Kane Williamson and Devcich in a fine form, the batting can pose some serious challenge to Hurricanes' bowling attack.

Key players:

Tim Paine

Hurricanes’ skipper Tim Paine has failed to fire in his team’s first two games. However, the wicketkeeper and opening batsman is too good a player to miss out on scoring for too long. If he gets going at the top of the batting order, it would be an ideal springboard for the other big-hitters in Hurricanes' batting line-up

Kane Williamson:

Undoubtedly, he is the best batsman to emerge from New Zealand in recent times. With him being in a fine batting form, it is not only a treat for viewers but it also helps a great deal for his side.

Squads:

Hobart Hurricanes: Tim Paine (captain and wicketkeeper), Jon Wells, Evan Gulbis, Xavier Doherty, Ben Hilfenhaus, Dom Michael, Sam Rainbird, Travis Birt, Doug Bollinger, Aiden Blizzard, Cameron Boyce, Joe Mennie, Ben Laughlin, Ben Dunk, Shoaib Malik.

Northern Knights: Ish Sodhi, Jono Boult, Brad Wilson, Kane Williamson, Daniel Flynn (captain), BJ Watling (wicketkeeper), Graeme Aldridge, Anton Devcich, Tim Southee, Scott Kuggeleijn, Daryl Mitchell, Daniel Harris, Scott Styris, Trent Boult.
