No move to fill posts
Hyderabad: The TRS and TD cadres will have to wait a while longer as the Chief Ministers of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states are in no hurry to fill the vacant nominated posts before Dasara.
The reason is that both CMs are busy with administration and implementation of their poll promises.
There are several thousand committees for temples, market yards, corporations and other bodies where vacancies exist and both Mr K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu had announced that “very shortly” they would fill the bodies with their respective party men.
“We are still hopeful Dasara sentiment is the-re for everyone, we hope that Mr Rao will fulfil his promise by making at least a few appointments,” said a TRS senior leader who had been denied a party ticket in the recent general elections and had been promised a Cabinet-rank corporation chairman’s post.
However, a TRS MLC told this newspaper that Mr Rao was busy with fulfilling the election pr-omises one by one and it would thus be a while before he attended the issue of nominated posts.
It is the same case in AP except that Mr Naidu has made two appoin-tments, for the APIIC and the the Skill Development Corporation.
“We have noticed a peculiar problem in appointing persons for market committees and temple committees; we have received some complaints from the districts, especially from West Godavari, and our leader Mr Chandrababu Naidu has instructed us not to entertain any appointments till he gives the green signal,” said a source in the Telugu Desam.
It seems that some MLAs had promised district-level posts to a few leaders during electioneering to enlist their support. But after the party came to power, another set of leaders came to an understanding with the MLAs and pressurised them to change the names in the lists that were proposed to the party headquarters.
The leaders who were left in the cold lodged complaints with the party office following which Mr Naidu instru-cted that no posts would be filled till all lists were cleared by the TD head office.
The CM’s son, Nara Lokesh, who is now at the helm of affairs at the party headquarters, had initiated a system in the party wherein all the district leaders should sit and finalise the lists without leaving any scope for favouritism.
