Visakhapatnam: The district administration will organise World Tourism Day on September 27 in the city. District collector Dr N Yuvaraj said they would finalise the venue for the event in a couple of days. It may be recalled that the state government released Rs 2 lakh for organising the event.
Officials decided to organise cultural events at Vuda Park, RK Beach and Tenneti Park on the day. He said star hotels in the city have agreed to provide 15 pc discount on all food items in connection with the Day. Hotels, important offices and heritage structures would be illuminated and impo-rtant tourist spots in around the city like Vuda Park, Sivaji Park, Kailasagiri, Kursura Submarine, Thotlakond, and Bavikonda would provide free entry for the visitors.
Tourism department will organise special package services on the day for the convenience of sightseers, the collector explained. APTDC general manager G. Bheemasankara Rao said the Tourism Development Corporation will provide 30 pc discount on accommodation and food. He also suggested to police department to organise Police Bank at RK beach on the day to propagate message of the day.
