Spiritual fervour marks Vedic University convocation

TTD was committed to promote, propagate and preserve the treasure of Vedic knowledge

Tirupati: Spiritual fervour and celebrations marked the second convocation of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University held here on Monday. With E.S.L. Narasimhan missing out on the convocation, vice-chancellor, Prof. K.E. Devanathan read out his convocation message in absentia.

The Governor in his message described the students as the “Protectors of Dharma” and advocated that the students should not confine themselves to mere academics but should take up the propagation of the Hindu Sanatana Dharma as prescribed in our ancient texts for a better society.

TTD EO M.G. Gopal, who addressed the students, asserted that the TTD was committed to promote, propagate and preserve the treasure of Vedic knowledge by taking up intensive Vedic programm-es. He pointed out that it was in the early 90s, a resolution was passed by then trust board to promote Ve-dic studies following which the very idea of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University was born in 2006 with a noble aim of promoting and preserving the Vedas.

The Executive Officer expressed happiness that the university is playing a vital role in producing Vedic scholars and pundits to take up the mission of promoting and preserving the Vedic knowledge in an extensive manner.

TTD specified authority chairman J.C. Sharma and other officials congratulated 414 students of the Vedic university who were awarded Ph.Ds and degrees.

The university conferred “Maha Mahopadhyaya” to eminent Vedic scholar Brahmasri Madduri Venkateswarayajulu on the occasion.

Later the chief guests released a set of 12 books including Karanagama, Samskrita Laghu Sambodhakosh and others.
