Long term power bid of 2,000MW shortly
Hyderabad: The AP energy department will shortly notify the procurement of 2,000 MW through long-term bidding process. The idea is to ensure a foolproof and transparent mechanism to obtain power at affordable rates, as the state needs long-term solutions to supply round-the-clock power under the Power for All scheme.
The AP government has made a fresh proposal with the Centre to form an association of solar countries, similar to Saarc, to exchange technology and harnessing natural resources and protect the environment. The government has a mandate of making the state free of power cuts in two years. The scheme will begin in phases from October 2 and cover the entire state.
The government has recently signed an MoU worth Rs 80,000 crore to expedite the implementation of the action plan to achieve energy security for providing 24X7 power for all. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had directed power officials to nominate a nodal officer for each project, for which MoU was signed and is monitoring the progress of the work.
