Fare row: Auto driver spits on woman techie
Bengaluru: A software engineer has filed a complaint with Madiwala police alleging that an auto-rickshaw driver misbehaved with her on September 18. The victim, Reena Biswas alias Rini, a resident of Cashier Layout filed a complaint with the police.
In her complaint, she stated that on September 18 after finishing her work at night she approached an auto-rickshaw driver near her workplace to drop her to her house in Cashier Layout.
The driver allegedly asked her to pay Rs 80, but Rini asked him to put on the meter. However, the auto driver dropped her at Maruthi Nagar in Madiwala, instead of Cashier Layout. An upset Rini told insisted on being dropped at Cashier Layout or else she would pay Rs 20 less than the meter fare.
The auto driver and Rini got into an argument and the enraged auto driver abused and spat on Rini’s face. Rini in turn tried to assault the driver. Passersby and local residents tried to intervene, but the auto driver fled.
Rini then went to the Madiwala police station and lodged a complaint. The police said they have sent the registration number of the auto rickshaw to the RTO. “We have learnt that he is a resident of Tannery Road. A case of 354, molestation has been registered and investigations are underway,” they added.
