Pore-fecting your looks

You no longer need to get hassled by your open pores, for there is hope
The appearance of open and enlarged pores can be horrifying for most women, for who likes to have craters on one’s face? The moment you hit puberty, they start appearing and with time, they only get bigger. That said, there is a solution to your woes that could help reduce if not completely eliminate the open pores. They occur due to excess production of sebum or oil in the body. Open pores make the skin lose its natural elasticity and texture. These may also occur due to hormonal changes in the body, stress and poor skin care.

They appear as small pits, and gives the skin a dimpled appearance much like an orange peel. As a result, the skin looks aged and dull. Usually found over the nose and cheeks, sometimes they end up on the forehead as well, if you are cursed with exceptionally oily skin. In case the sebaceous glands get clogged, it would restrict the flow of the oil leading to dilation of the pore opening. Hence large open pores. Here are some treatments that might prove helpful.
TCA Cross: Simple yet a very effective method to reduce open pores. The procedure comprises of application of tri-chloro-acetic acid on the wall of open pores with a tooth pick that leads to the formation of black scab which will fall off in seven to ten days. Results are good with 30-50 percent reduction in the size of the pores.
Retinoids: Topical and oral retinoids help in reducing oil secretions and open pores; but they are available under prescription only.
Derma-rollers: These help by remodelling the collagen. It works by producing thousands of microscopic needle columns (0.1mm in width) in the dermis of the skin, these stimulate the skin to regenerate and repair itself naturally and safely.
Lasers: There are a couple of lasers which might be effective in reducing open pores. The laser also induces collagen remodelling and have been used effectively in reducing pits and craters on skin.
Salicylic Acid: Beta-hydroxy acid seeps into the opening of the sebaceous ducts and removes the keratin plug; thus helps reduce open pores. Currently, many face washes and toners with salycilic acid are available in market; they should be used only if your skin is very oily. You can also consider fortnightly salicylic acid peels which are an excellent way to control oil secretions and decrease open pores.
