Minister R. Kishorebabau gets an earful from CM N. Chandrababu Naidu
He said that ministers have many platforms to speak from, but the officials were afraid due to the minister’s frequent interventions
Guntur: Minister for social welfare R. Kishorebabu was left red-faced on Saturday after Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu told him to give a chance to officials to speak. Mr Kishorebabu and the officials were participating in a video conference with Mr Naidu at the collectorate in Guntur on the development works taken up in the district.
When Mr Naidu asked from clarifications from the officials on “Janmabhumi-Ma Ooru” and other schemes, Mr Kishorebabu tried to bring the continuous rainfall in the district to the Chief Minister’s attention.
However, Mr Naidu asked him to let the officials speak. Mr Kishorebabu repeatedly asked Mr Naidu to allow him one minute to speak. Visibly irritated over this, Mr Naidu angrily said, “We (ministers) have lots of platforms to talk on various issues, including the Assembly and party meetings. The officials are afraid to speak now due to your interventions.”
The CM said that he was conducting the video conference to get complete information on the ground realities and the implementation of the welfare schemes. Mr Naidu told the officials to gather information about the status of social security pensions and other schemes and directed the Guntur district administration to conduct “Janmabhumi Ma Ooru” programme for the next 15 days, barring Dasara and Diwali holidays.
A visibly disappointed Mr Kishorebabu later went to LAM farm to inspect the inundated areas with officials. The district officials heaved a sigh of relief as the video conference concluded without further interruptions.
