Hyderabad: The Telangana government has been forced to soften its stand on realignment after L&T Metro Rail’s threat to walk out of the project. Barring Sultan Bazaar, the Telangana government is unlikely to insist on realignment now near the Assembly and Moazzam Jahi Market where pillars have already been laid.

It may be recalled that except for Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao seeking realignment during his maiden speech in the Assembly in June, the government did not send any official communication to L&T in this regard.

With the latest developments, the government is in no mood to order realignment except for asking the company to avoid Sultan Bazaar, where no work has been started.

Fast-track approvals are being given now to begin work in other core areas of the city. The sudden decision of the government to divert traffic near Malakpet ‘T-Junction’ for two months is being seen in this direction.
