Karimnagar: Four persons were taken into custody for allegedly demanding Rs 30 lakh from a noted pediatrician of Huzurabad town after kidnapping him, a few days ago. However, they released him after he promised to pay them Rs 10 lakh. It is learnt that he had paid Rs 7 lakh.
Sources said the abductors were arrested three days back, after the doctor approached police when they threatened to kill him if he failed to give them more money.
Two weeks back, the doctor was kidnapped by the accused while leaving from his hospital and his clinic was closed all these days causing inconvenience to patients.
However, he approached police after the accused began demanding more money. Police suspect that the four arrested are natives of Huzurabad town.
“In order to avoid intervention of elected representatives in the issue, the accused were shifted to Karimnagar city for interrogation. A senior IPS officer is interrogating the accused,” according to a reliable source. When contacted, Huzurabad DSP C. Satyanarayana Reddy refused to divulge details about the case.
