Revanth Reddy wants KCR to debate Metro land row
Hyderabad: Accusing the TRS government of trying to drive away the concessionaire L&T to prevent them from executing the Metro Rail project, senior TD legislator A. Revanth Reddy on Friday challenged the CM to an open debate on the issue and announced that he will prove his allegations against the CM. Mr Revanth had accused KCR of favouring his men while allotting land originally given to L&T in the Gatchibowli area of the capital.
Mr Revanth Reddy released documents showing the TRS government had favoured ‘My Home’ owner Jupally Rameswara Rao in securing the land that was allotted to Metro Rail and the Gaming City project allotted to DLF.
He said that due to his close association with Mr Rameswara Rao, Chief Minister Chan-drasekhar Rao had favoured him by giving exemption from the payment of '26 crore stamp duty 20 days after coming to power. The TD legislator said the proposal to exempt My Home from paying stamp duty was rejected by Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy but the same was cleared by KCR on June 26 this year.
Mr Revanth Reddy said the Chief Minister had indeed threatened Hyderabad Metro Rail managing director N.V.S. Reddy and had forced him to issue a statement on Thursday stating that the Gatchibowli land was not allotted to any individual and that the land was very much in the possession of L&T which is not the fact.
“If that is so why did Mr N.V.S. Reddy object to allotting the land to My Home and write to the government that L&T is thinking of withdrawing from the project,” Mr Revanth asked.
Meanwhile, My Home director Jupally Shyam said the allegations levelled by Mr Revanth Reddy were baseless and that they are seeking legal advice to proceed against him for trying to damage the image of the company.
In another statement, Aqua Space Developers, formerly known as DLF Raidurg Developers Pvt Ltd, said Mr Revanth Reddy who obtained the documents through RTI was very much aware that there was no substance in his allegations but had still decided to make the allegations against DLF and My Home which became a partner in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) in August 2014 for reasons best known to him.
The DLF representative said they are exploring legal options including the filing of a defamation case against Mr Revanth Reddy. He denied that his company had secured concessions and exemptions from the government.
