Villagers appeal against wine shop
According to them families have been living peacefully because of no liquor shop
Ongole: Residents of Chevuru in Gudlur mandal of Prakasam district appealed to excise superintendent Bhaskar Rao not to issue licence to set up wine shop in their village.In a representation submitted to him, they said that majority of the people living in the village belong to SC/ST, BC and minority communities and they are eking out a living as farmhands.
According to villagers, their families have been living peacefully because there was no liquor shop in the village for the last four years. They alleged that no one was peaceful when there was liquor shop in the village.
Referring to the moves by some people to set up a liquor shop in their habitation in the recent past, they appealed to the officer not to consider their request. KVPS state general secretary Andra Malyadri, district unit president A. Raghavulu and villagers M. Srinivasulu, Audisesh-aiah, Jalanna, Rama Rao and M. Srinivasulu met the excise official.
