Telangana Endowments’ staff takes back temple
The Venkateswara Swamy temple has properties worth Rs 150 crores in and around the Adilabad town
ADILABAD: The Telangana Endowments department has taken the Venkateshwara temple in Adilabad town into their custody from the Marvadi Trust on Friday afternoon. The three years agreement to run the temple by the Rajasthan Marvadi Trust came to an end by August 28.
The Venkateswara Swamy temple has properties worth Rs 150 crores in and around the Adilabad town. District Asst Endowment Commissioner Vijayaramarao inspected the temple located at the Ambedkar Chowk and took the temple and records into his custody and will be acted as in-charge of the temple now onwards.
The alleged irregularities and subsequent vigilance by the endowment department necessitated the endowment department to take the temple into their custody. It is proved that, members of the Rajasthan Marvadi Trust constructed a new temple on the premises to accommodate function hall without taking permission from the Endowment department.
It is learnt that the trust members wanted to install the idol of the old temple of Venkateshwara Swamy in new temple which is under construction.
