Murder attempt case against BJP’s mayoral candidate R. Nandakumar

In another incident, two cars belonging to AIADMK cadres were damaged and glass windows broken
Coimbatore: Coimbatore city police have slapped an attempt to murder case against BJP’s mayoral candidate R. Nandakumar. On Thursday, there were allegations that ruling party members were distributing cash to woo voters.
The BJP candidate’s little finger was injured in the clash and his car’s window panes were smashed. The BJP lodged a complaint against the AIADMK men while the ruling party members also lodged a counter complaint.
Based on the complaint of K.N. Jayagopalan, AIADMK functionary of 25th ward, police registered a case against Nandakumar and 10 others for attempting to murder AIADMK cadres at Sowripalayam.
Police also registered case against AIADMK MLA R. Chinnasamy of Singanallur constituency and Bodinaickanur municipality chairman, V.R. Palanisamy for unlawful assembly and involving in clashes.
In all, Coimbatore police have registered three cases against Nandakumar and two against AIADMK party members Chinnasamy and Palanisamy. In yet another incident on Wednesday night, two cars belonging to AIADMK cadres were damaged and glass windows broken by unidentified persons at Kurichi Pirivu.
Later S.R. Dhamu, vice president, BJP urban rural district, lodged a complaint with Peelamedu police and claimed that MLA Chinnasamy and his team had waylaid his car at Sowripalayam and assaulted him and BJP party youth wing cadre Karthi. Based on a complaint police registered a case against MLA Chinnasamy and a few other AIADMK cadres.
