Farmers ransack ZPTC office over loan waiver
Farmers accused Mr Rao of obstructing the farmers from getting their loans waived off under the scheme
KARIMNAGAR: Led by different political parties, a large number of farmers barged into office of Bejjanki Zilla Parishad and damaged its furniture, alleging that Zilla Parishad Territorial Constituency (ZPTC) member Tanneru Sharath Rao was trying to obstruct crop loan waiver to them in Bejjanki on Friday.
The farmers resorted to damaging the furniture of the office as they were angry at police when foiled their demonstration seeking the crop loan waiver. They accused Mr Rao of obstructing the farmers from getting their loans waived off under the scheme. They alleged that he was trying to benefit followers and members of the TRS by misleading officials in identifying beneficiaries.
Leaders of the Telugu Desam, BJP and Congress extended solidarity to the demonstration of the farmers. Bejjanki single window chairman Ch. Ravinder Reddy and many others were present. Over 300 farmers took part in the demonstration.
