BJP to Prime Minister: Dil maange more
Bengaluru: Making the most of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two -day visit to the state starting September 23, Mayor Shanthakumari plans to push for more funds for Bengaluru's ongoing projects , garbage management and for the second phase of the Metro Rail.
BJP leaders plan to draw up a memorandum which will be submitted to the Prime Minister seeking financial assistance for the city's development at a meeting of the party's Bengaluru unit, according to sources.
If the BJP leaders are not able to meet Mr Modi in Bengaluru, they hope to submit the memorandum to him in Tumkur where he is scheduled to inaugurate Asia's largest food processing unit on September 24.
Meanwhile, former deputy Chief Minister, R.Ashok has held a meeting with Bengaluru city BJP MLAs to instruct them to mobiles 500 people each from the city's 28 Assembly constituencies to welcome Mr Modi on his arrival at the HAL airport. The party hopes to mobilise 15,000 to 20, 000 people for the event, according to sources.
BJP leaders have also instructed party workers in Tumkur and Bengaluru Rural to gather in large numbers at the Prime Minister's programme in Tumkur.
On his arrival Mr. Modi will address party workers at the HAL Airport in the city on September 23 and then proceed to Raj Bhavan. He is also scheduled to visit the Indian Space Research Organisation in Bengaluru.
While state BJP leaders are keen on holding a brief discussion with him during his visit, the PMO has not responded positively to their request, say sources.
