Suspension of two cops justified
Environment and Forest minister has said that state would act tough on suspended cops
Tirupati: Minister for environment and forests Bojjala Gopalakrishna Reddy on Friday justified the suspension of two deputy superintendents of police rank officials for nexus with red sanders smugglers.Speaking to media persons here on Friday, he reiterated that the state government would act tough on the officials and the cops who connived with the smugglers pledging the interests of the state.
Mr Reddy noted that the state government was committed to its stand of wiping out the anti-social elements completely out of the Seshachalam and said that appropriate departmental action would be initiated against anyone who vow their allegiance to the smugglers.
He observed that the suspension of the two cops was to send out a warning to the “culprits in the cupboard” that no such acts would be tolerated at all henceforth. The minister refuted allegations that the state government was resorting to witch-hunting tactics by booking YSR Congress leaders under red sanders cases and under the PD Act. Mr Reddy said that laws hold good for everyone and said anyone having links with the red sanders smugglers won’t be spared irrespective of their political affiliations.
The minister added that besides the extensive combing operations being underway inside the Seshachalam forests to flush out the red sanders woodcutters, key smugglers and those with political affiliations were being booked by the district police wings under the PD Act. Reacting to a question, Mr Reddy added that the state government would go ahead with the auction of the red sanders pile-up as planned.
