Break time fun
Gossip, talk/play on the phone or just hang out with pals, sleep, read and even exercise, that’s what TV stars do during their free time on sets
Mumbai: TV stars literally live on their sets as regular shooting schedules take up their whole day. So any free time that they get in between slots is a welcome break. We speak to a few stars to find out how they spend their free time on sets.
Preetika Rao, who plays the female lead Alia on Beintehaa says, “It’s difficult to get too much free time, but whenever I did get it, I used to hang out with Naved Aslam who played my reel life mamu jaan Usman Abdullah. We would always eat our meals and drink tea together. Both of us love experimenting with different flavours of tea.” Now that Naved’s role has ended, Preetika hangs out with her other buddy Vivek Madan, who plays Fahaad on the show. “Vivek is very well-read person. We discuss everything, from politics to movies. He has a great sense of humour too.”
Unlike others, Preetika isn’t addicted to her phone.
Sanjeeda Sheikh, who plays Durga on Ek Haseena Thi loves to chat with people between shots. “I am known as the gossip queen on sets!” she smiles. Apart from keeping all her colleagues updated on what’s happening, Sanjeeda says she plays Candy Crush to keep herself occupied.
Tina Dutta, Uttaran’s Meethi, also plays on her phone to kill time. And when her on-screen husband Mrunal Jain is also free she hangs out with him. “We play pranks on each other, eat lunch together and gossip too.”
But if it’s a long break, Tina says she likes to catch up on her sleep or have long chats on phone with her family.
Mohammad Nazim, Saath Nibhana Saathiya’s Ahem, likes to chat with friends during short breaks, and when he has a long gap, he works out. “I carry basic fitness tools like dumbbells with me. I usually like to finish up with my daily exercise regime before reaching the sets, but if I miss a session I make up for it during the day.”
Veera’s Ratan, Sneha Wagh says she is not anti-social or unfriendly, but she confesses that she likes to keep to herself during breaks. “Apart from playing games on my phone, I listen to a lot of music as this really peps up my mood.”
Actress Mouni Roy too loves to listen to music on sets, but apart from that she says she keeps herself occupied either with chatting with friends on her phone or burying her nose in a good book.
Sapne Suhane Ladakpan Ke’s Roopal Tyagi carries her laptop with her so that she can watch movies and play games. Roopal also likes to play the card game Uno with her co-stars. She also has long chats with her parents who live in Bengaluru.
