Survey data for schemes
ADILABAD: The state government has decided to utilise the data collected in the intensive household survey conducted recently. Basing on the details, the government would issue new ration cards, pensions, house sites and houses. The survey was held to weed out bogus beneficiaries of various government schemes as it would reduce the burden on the state exchequer.
It is learnt that all the information collected through the household survey has been compiled properly and that the state government had analysed the details. It is now ready to make use of the data for the implementation of various welfare schemes.
On September 15, rural development principal secretary Raymond Peter sought suggestions from the district collectors on the implementation of various welfare schemes like issuing ration cards, houses and pensions, selection of beneficiaries based on the data collected through household survey. Mr Peter also sought suggestions on preparing an action plan for the development and welfare of the state.
District supply officer Vasanthrao Deshpande said they have received instructions from the government to activate the ration cards which were earlier deactivated and stop supply of ration to those cards pertaining to families which migrated to other places permanently, people who had died and those found to be bogus beneficiaries. Basically, the survey was conducted to weed out bogus beneficiaries in the state.
He said they have activated nearly 18,000 ration cards recently of the 80,000 deactivated cards, after conducting a survey.
The state government is also planning to link up the ration cards with Aadhaar cards to weed out bogus ration card holders.
Adilabad district has so far achieved 92.22 per cent Aadhaar seeding with ration cards and the civil supply officials were asked to increase it to 95-96 per cent so that new cards could be issued to the eligible beneficiaries.
The civil supply officials have identified nearly 1,21,000 unseeded ration cards in Adilabad district. The survey also made officials know that the number of households had increased to 8,43,372 from 6,49,833 in the district.
