Mumbai: After weeks of breath-taking performances, the current season of Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa finally came to an end with Ashish Sharma, not surprisingly, emerging as the winner. Speculations that Ashish was the favourite to win were doing the rounds since week 7. He was popular due to his show on Colors, Rangrasiya, and had a huge female fan following. Though not a dancer, Ashish had improved over the weeks, had bagged a perfect 30 a couple of times and deserved the trophy.
Judge Karan Johar too had always mentioned that the show was for non-dancers and about their journey of how they transformed. Which is why, perhaps, Karan Tacker was the runner up, followed by super dancers Shakti Mohan and Mouni Roy! Apart from a cash prize of Rs 30 lakh, Ashish Sharma also drove away with a Mahindra XUV. The finale also saw dance performances from the jury. While Madhuri Dixit impressed everybody with her aerial act on Main Tainu Samjhava and Choli Ke Peeche among other songs, Remo D’Souza stuck to a robot dance. Karan Johar, on the other hand, performed on a medley with the four finalists.
The evening also saw performances from Mika and Shaan, followed by a gag between Dadi and Gutthi of Comedy Nights... The finale also had performances by comedian Bharti Singh, Sophie Choudry and Anil Kapoor, who worked his charm on the contestants and joined them on stage to sing and dance to an entire song.
