Chennai: Amidst major protests from a few Tamil groups and with a battalion of police forces bringing the situation under control, the audio launch of Vijay’s controversial movie Kaththi took place at the Leela Palace Hotel in the city on Thursday.
While the movie is directed by AR Murugadoss, Samantha plays Vijay’s romantic interest. Anirudh has composed the music.Though only people with invites were allowed inside, the hall where the show was held was overflowing and there was hardly space to even stand. Apparently Vijay’s fans from all over the state had been brought in, and were occupying the area.
Everytime one of the speakers so much as mentioned Vijay’s name, the hall resonated with thunderous cheers! Speaking at the event Vijay asserted, “Kaththi film was made not to start a fight with anybody, but to entertain the masses. The film is not pro or anti to anyone. Though I don’t call myself a martyr, certainly I am not a betrayer.”
He added, “Everyone was asking me why I maintained a stoic silence on the issue it was because I waited for the producers to speak about it. If I give an explanation to truth; it brings clarity. But if I start clarifying rumors, then that becomes the truth. This is Tamil Nadu and I am a Tamilian.”
Soundarya Rajinikanth, Arya, Satish, Neil Nitin Mukesh, Madan Karki, Sangeetha Vijay, producers Karunamoorthy, Subaskaran, Kayar, Vikraman, SA Chandrashekar were among others who were spotted at the gala event.
