Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch 'Make in India' campaign next week

The campaign will be attended by top global and Indian business leaders
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is going to launch the ‘Make in India’ campaign on September 25 on a mega scale to be attended by top global and Indian business leaders. As chief minister of Gujarat, Mr Modi used to host a biennial investors’ summit ‘Vibrant Gujarat’, which used to be attended by top CEOs and investors both from abroad and India to attract investment in the state.
During his Independence day address Prime Minister Modi had given the call to both international and domestic companies to “come make in India” and sell anywhere in the world. This has also become important as the share of manufacturing in India’s GDP is low and the sector witnessed a de-growth last fiscal.
Global companies from countries including the US, Japan, Korea, Sweden, Poland, Australia, China, Italy, Germany and France are likely to attend the function. Mr Modi is expected to announce measures during the programme to attract companies to start manufacturing operations in the country.
