Vijayawada land value to go up

A panel has been set up to fix revised price

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government is planning to increase the market rates fixed for the land in and around Vijayawada soon. A committee set up by the revenue department is examining this issue and a decision to revise the rates will be taken within two months.
“Once the committee submits its report, we will take a decision on this,” said deputy Chief Minister K.E. Krishnamurthy, who holds the portfolios of revenue, stamps and registration.
Stating that 32,872 acres of government land is available within 10 km radius of district headquarters across the state, he said over 3,247 acres in Krishna and 2,012 acres government land in Guntur districts are available within 10 km radius from the district headquarters. The government will also take up a comprehensive survey of all categories of land in the state.
On the issue of location of the state capital, he dropped enough indications that the new capital city is likely to be developed towards Kanchikacherla, Gannavaram, Ibrahimpatnam and Gottumukkala.
Though Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu himself has not announced the exact location of the new capital city, Mr Krishnamurthy jumped the gun giving indications on the location. Sources said Naidu is planning to locate the administrative buildings of the capital at these four places.
To queries, he said land prices have not gone up near Guntur whereas they have skyrocketed near Vijayawada particularly Gannavaram, Kanchikacherla, Gottumukkala and Ibrahimpatnam after the state government’s announcement that the new capital would be located around Vijayawada. The increase of land rates at these places clearly indicates the location of the new capital, he said.
On why he was not made part of the Cabinet sub-committee, constituted to work out land pooling options for the new capital, the minister said that he personally opted out of it. He said for the first time in the country, AP introduced ‘e-Pattadar Pass book’ to agricultural land holders and linked it to Aadhaar cards. Sarkhar Bhoomi, novel software, aimed at documenting the status of all government lands has been introduced.
“A new Android application is developed for recording crop cultivation particulars at field level on tab and to directly upload into the state data centre. It is being implemented in the Kuppam Assembly,” said he.
