Eluru: State endowments commissioner Y. V. Anuradha reviewed the arrangements for the conduct of Godavari Maha Kumbh Mela with the officials from various departments like irrigation, revenue, endowments, roads and buildings, panchayat raj, power and municipal administration in West Godavari here on Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, she directed the officials to prepare comprehensive plans and execute them in an expeditious manner. She called for preparation of plans for strengthening ghats at Kovvur, Narasapuram, Pattisam, Sidhantham, Chinchinada, Doddipatla, Teeparru, Gutala, Polavaram, Lakshmipalem, Tallapudi, Vadapalli, Koderu and other areas for the benefit of pilgrims.
She directed the officials to take steps to avoid open defecation at the ghats and felt the need to bring about awareness among the people on the issue. She asked authorities to arrang mobile toilets during the fete.
She said that vaccines for snake bite and dog bite be kept ready during the fete. She instructed the power officials to strengthen the power infrastructure to avoid any power disruption during the fete.
