Madras high court has dispensed with the personal appearance of former TN CM

Chennai: The Madras high court has dispensed with the personal appearance of former CM and DMK chief M. Karunanidhi before the Justice R. Regupathy commission of inquiry, which is probing the alleged irregularities in the construction of a new secretariat at Omandurar Estate in Chennai.

Justice V. Ramasubramanian posted to after two weeks further hearing of the petition filed by Karunanidhi which sought to call for the records, appointing Justice Regupathy as commission of inquiry.

Justice Ramasubramanian said senior counsel R. Muthukumaraswamy, appearing for the commission of inquiry said that the petitioner need not appear in person to the summons issued, and the questionnaire can be submitted by his counsel before the panel.
