Congress, Telugu Desam Party lash out at TRS
Telugu Desam and Congress slammed the TRS government for creating hurdles for the Metro rail project
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam and Congress on Wednesday slammed the TRS government for creating hurdles for the Metro rail project in the name of realignment.
TD MLA A. Revanth Reddy said, the TRS government lacked clarity on the project, while Congress leaders like Shabbir Ali and Jeevan Reddy warned that if this was the approach of the TRS government, no investor would come forward to set up projects in the state.
However, IT minister K.T. Rama Rao said this was a “conspiracy” hatched by the anti-Telangana forces to obstruct the project and spoil the brand image of Hyderabad. “Mr Chandrababu Naidu made a lot of efforts to bring the Metro project to Hyderabad. Later, YSR misused the project to serve the business interests of his son. Now, the TRS government is creating obstacles for the project with selfish motives,” said Mr Revanth Reddy.
He alleged that the government has allotted 32 acres in Gachibowli meant for the Metro to a close confidant of Mr Chandrasekhar Rao. Meanwhile, Mr Ali and Mr Jeevan Reddy said, “If the Metro is stopped mid way, the CM should take the responsibility. From the day of his becoming the CM, he is trying to create problems for L&T in some form or the other. This is one of the largest PPP projects in the world and everyone is keenly waiting to see it complete. Any disruption to the project at this stage will have serious consequences on the new Telangana state.”
“Telangana already lost Hero MotoCorp plant to AP due to lack of power. If the government adopts the same policy, no investor will dare to invest here. It is time the CM mended his ways, else the state will suffer,” Mr Ali said.
However, Mr K.T. Rama Rao refuted these allegations saying there is no danger to the Metro rail project.
