Khammam: Tension prevailed before the district collectorate for some time when BJP activists tried to enter into the premises to hoist the National Flag on Wednesday.

BJP activists, led by party district president K. Sridhar Reddy hoisted the Tricolour at the party office and set off in a rally to the collectorate to hoist the National Flag, demanding the TRS government celebrate September 17 officially as Liberation Day.

Sridhar Reddy said the government should remember what he said were atrocities committed by the Nizam against the people.

“Shoibullah Khan lost his life at the hands of the Razakars during the Nizam rule and he belonged to the minority community,” he said.

Former MLA Chanda Lingaiah Dora and party leaders G. Satyanarayana, B. Prabhakar Reddy, C. Ramesh, M. Srinivasa Reddy and Gantela Vidyasagar were present.
