Telugu lecturer helping censor officer
Hyderabad: When you need help understanding a language, who could assist you better than a language teacher? And according to a source, this is what Regional Censor Board officer Dhanalakshmi is doing. Yes, a Telugu lecturer is helping her. However producers are not a happy lot. Many say that she has asked for the removal of some regular words even though there are no double-meanings in the usage of those words.
“These days, there are many films with different regional accents. The officer is actually confused about whether some of the words are used with their “original” meaning or whether there are different meanings implied. Hence an expert help is sought,” says the source.
Recently, a big film that came for censor clearance had the lead actor speak in a pronounced Rayalaseema accent. “The officer asked for the removal of a few words, but the makers explained to her that those words were not offensive in nature. She consulted the lecturer immediately and passed those dialogues,” added the source.
