Money not a deterrent for these athletes

Sprinters Naidu, Kavita and shotput player Priyanka bag medals at state event
Karimnagar: Three young athletes of Paramita Atheltic Academy in Karimnagar G. Venkat Naidu, Ch. Kavita and N. Sai Priyanka, who bagged two gold medals each at the maiden Telangana State-level Junior Athletic Championship held in Hyderabad on September 13 and 14, share a common background. The trio have come to Karimnagar to fulfill their dream of representing India at prestigious sports events.
Both Naidu and Kavita are sprinters and Priyanka is a discus throw-cum-shot put player. They belong to Vizianagaram and Kadapa districts and had reached Karimnagar a year ago. Fathers of all the three athletes are farmers. Owing to their poor financial status, they could not afford to get proper training and so are relying on the academy.
Sprinter G. Venkat Naidu, 16, said he moved to the academy because he could not find suitable trainers in Parvathipuram in Vizianagaram district, his native place. He won three gold medals in state and national level events so far.
“There is no sprinter from India who could display extraordinary performance in Olympics till now. I wish to do that and clinch a medal at the global event,” he said. Ch. Kavita, 14, a native of Poram village in Mentada in Vizianagaram district, said she had joined the academy to fulfill her passion for running. Her brother, an athletic coach by profession, shifted her to the city as he felt that she would get proper training here.
Similarly, N. Sai Priyanka, belonging to Rajannapet in Kadapa district, is also getting trained in the academy. She won eight gold medals, a silver and bronze in different state and national level events between 201-2014. She said she wants to bring fame to India by winning medals at prestigious events.
Chairman of Paramita Athletic Academy Dr. E. Prasada Rao felicitated these athletes, apart from S. K. Aji Baba, who won a gold medal in high jump, M. Sai Kiran, who won a silver medal in medley relay and Ch. Laxman, who bagged bronze medal in triathlon, at a programme held at the Academy.
