Hyderabad: The TRS retained the Medak Lok Sabha constituency by a massive majority in the first bypoll in the state after the 2014 general elections.
TRS nominee Kotha Prabhakar Reddy trounced his nearest Congress rival Suneetha Laxma Reddy by 3,61,288 votes, despite a lower turnout. The BJP-TD ended up third.
“I thank the voters for bestowing confidence in the TRS and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The big victory indicates the people’s faith in the TRS government and its policies,” Mr Prabhakar Reddy said after the results were declared. Promising to implement all the promises made to the people, the winner assured that he would take up development projects with Central assistance.
