Railway minister Sadananda Gowda plans connectivity to all northeastern states
Guwahati: Union Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda has expressed satisfaction with the progress of railway connectivity achieved by the Northeast Frontier Railway and expressed the hope that rail links will be established to all north eastern states.
Gowda held review meetings with departmental heads and other officials.
"I have visited everything. Really, it was up to my expectation and I enquired with the passengers, commuters about that and they also said that it is up to their expectation," said Gowda.
He said the central government aimed to complete 34 various ongoing projects of Indian Railways in the northeast over the next six years.
Gowda said he has laid special emphasis on cleanliness, catering and safety in his budget.
He said he wanted to give importance to the passengers of northeastern states.
"Within a short span of time of five years, we should have connectivity to all the capitals of the states of the northeastern states," added Gowda.
Gowda said connectivity to states of Meghalaya and Arunachal Pradesh was already established.
