He graduated from National Institute of Technology, Karnataka in 2005, but is jobless
Bengaluru: In 1993, at the age of 23, Keshava KC, a resident of Kaadu Malleswaram in Bengaluru city, completed his diploma in paper technology Keshava completed his diploma in paper technology from the Government Polytechnic, Bhadravathi, in Shimoga district, 1993, when he was 21 years old.
After the diploma, Keshava wanted to pursue his B.E. But the government denied him a seat on the grounds that he didn't possess the necessary qualifications to join any engineering stream.
In the year 2000, the government amended the B.E. admission rules and allowed paper technology diploma holders to join the Chemical engineering stream. Under this amended rule, Mr. Keshava KC got a seat, (B.E. chemical engineering) at the prestigious NITK, the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, Suratkhal.
Now Keshava KC wants the government to compensate him as he considers himself the victim of a delayed decision making process. Mr.Keshava has been staging a dharna at Freedom Park in the city for the last 70 days. He narrates his heartbreaking journey: "When Mr. Madan Gopal was the principal secretary, higher education, he got me a part-time job, but once he was transferred from the department, I lost that job. This situation has made my life miserable," he said in aggrieved tones.
"I will continue my dharna till the government assures me of compensation," he added.
