Endowments wing picks Seetanagaram as its base
Guntur: The endowments department would use its unused buildings on the banks of the River Krishna in Seetanagaram of Guntur district as its headquarters. The department will make sure that these buildings are vastu complaint before moving in.
Endowments minister P. Manikyala Rao had stated several times that the headquarters of the department would be shifted to a place in or around Vijayawada, the state capital.
Earlier, an old age home near Gosala, about 8 km from Vijayawada, was chosen to as the site to establish the department’s headquarters, but the proposal was cancelled due to the distance.
Officials, after going through various places to establish the office of the endowments commissioner, zeroed in on the tourist house in Seetanagaram, on the banks of River Krishna.
The endowments department had constructed a two-storeyed building for tourists at a cost of Rs 2.40 crore in 2012 but it failed to inaugurate it due to various reasons. The building has a large hall that can accommodate 500 people, two suites and seven air conditioned rooms with spacious parking facility.
It is opposite the Kanakadurga temple, and faces Eesanyam (north east), considered auspicious.
Senior priest S. Subramanya Sarma said that the choice of headquarters was very good as the guesthouse is on the banks of the river and it faces east.
