Campus placements increase
karimnagar: Both private and government engineering colleges in Karimnagar witnessed a rise in the number of campus placements, thanks to the multi-national companies. Around 200 engineering students have been placed in some or the other company in the last academic year as against 150 placements in the previous year.
Initially, colleges could not grab the attention of MNCs despite producing talented engineers.
But, over a period of time, the institutions started seeing more and more employment opportunities for their students. The rise in placements can be attributed to the growing demand for potential candidates.
For instance, about 183 students, who passed out from Kondagattu’s College of Engineering, affiliated to JNTU-Hyderabad, were offered jobs by Infosys, IBM, TCS, Google and many other companies in the 2013-14 as against 160 in 2012-13. As many as 176 students of Jyothismathi Institute of Technological Sciences (JITS) were employed in 2013-14 while only 118 students could get jobs in 2012-13.
Similarly, Vaageswari College of Engineering saw 172 campus placements last academic year, surpassing its earlier year’s 165 opportunities.
Meanwhile, Kamala Institute of Technological Sciences (KITS) registered 148 jobs in 2013-14. Graduates of Vivekananda Institute of Technological Sciences too could secure over 100 placements.
Many colleges are entering into MoUs with different companies to ensure employment opportunities for their students. The managements are using their placements as a marketing tool to generate more admissions. “Our institute provided required training to improve skills to get jobs in MNCs ,” said Yogesh Khandelwal, working in Infosys, Hyderabad.
