Cabinet allots 600 acres to Hero Motocorp in Chittoor district

Hero Motocorp unit in Chittoor district will generate employment opportunities for 3,000 people.

Hyderabad: Andhra Pradesh government Cabinet has decided to allot 600 acres of land to Hero Motocorp at Sri City in Chittoor district to set up its unit.

Hero Motocorp has come forward to establish its unit in Andhra Pradesh with an investment of Rs 2,200 crore. A Memorandum of Understanding between the state government and representatives of Hero Motors will be signed on Tuesday.

Setting up of a Hero Motocorp unit in Chittoor district will generate employment opportunities for 3,000 people and provide employment opportunities to 3,000 more. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu told officials to offer all concessions including Central Sales Tax to Hero Motocorp to set up its unit in the state.

Mr Naidu said that Toyota Motor Company is also likely to set up its unit and similar concessions be offered to them also.

When the finance officials pointed out that that CST concession should be given by the Centre Mr Naidu said, “We have to attract major companies to set up units in the state, for which the state government will pay the CST.”

Speaking to the media AP information minister Palle Raghunath Reddy said that the Cabinet has decided to allot 5,500 acres of land in Kunta mandal in Anantapur district to set up the 1000 MW solar power project at a cost of Rs 7,000 crore.

He said 5,000 acres were allotted in Palem in Kurnool district to 1,000 MW solar power project and 3,000 acres were allotted in Galiveedu in Kadapa district to 500 MW solar power project.

Mr Reddy said state government will start NTR Health Service scheme from October 2. He said the government employees and journalists also will get free treatment up to Rs 2.5 lakh.
