Bypoll is not held in a democratic manner

Coimbatore: Several BJP cadres, led by its mayoral candidate R. Nandhakumar, petitioned collector Archana Patnaik here on Monday, demanding to cancel the bypoll alleging that it is not held in a democratic manner.
They alleged that the AIADMK was involved in door-to-door distribution of money to voters. The police and local officials have also failed to curb this, they charged. "This election should be cancelled as it is not held in a democratic manner," Mr Nandhakumar said.
The BJP partymen also showed Rs 7,400, which they claimed that they seized from AIADMK workers, at Goundampalayam and Thudiyalur neighbourhoods. The collector, on receiving the petition, promised to look into the issue.
