‘i is one of the biggest films of my career’
Chennai: It’s been four years since this Liverpudlian entered Kollywood screens like a breath of fresh air. She may have been regarded an outsider then, but the charming Amy Jackson can well and truly call herself a Chennaiite today as the magnum opus, I, readies for release. The audio launch, held in the city on Sunday, had Hollywood A-lister and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger present.
“I is one of the biggest films in my career,” said the glowing actress on the eve of the launch. “I never thought it was going to be this big. We have been shooting for this film for more than two years, it has been worth a lifetime for me. I have enjoyed every moment of it, what with being lucky enough to have P.C Sreeram behind the camera, one who creates something unique in each shot, and to have the music composed by ARR. The songs are wonderful.”
She performed to a song from the film at the event with Vikram, having rehearsed hard under choreographer Bosco Martis’s guidance. “The atmosphere at the show is great, and I am so happy with the way Chennaiites have welcomed me as an actress. Besides, what could be more exciting than meeting Arnold. It’s like one of my biggest dreams come true,” Amy added.
Director Shankar has kept details about I well under wraps, though it is learnt that major portions of it have been shot in China, and Vikram, who plays the lead in the film, will be sporting multiple looks. Amy plays the role of a model. “My character’s name is ‘Diya’. The film has a different storyline, with elements of romance, comedy and suspense in it,” she said.
As for co-star Vikram, with whom this is her second film, the first being Thandavam, Amy said, “He is an actor who puts his heart and soul into each film. He is so dedicated, and will go to any extent for perfection.”
